COLUMBUS PUNK – We have decided to start doing our part in restoring the scene here in Columbus and to break down the barriers.. no more elite punk rock bullshit. There are other groups in the area doing the same… Groups like Addition13 and Decade Vintage Clothing have set up D.I.Y. all ages show spaces in the city and are booking national, regional, and local bands in some of the local clubs, we have decided to join their ranks. The Columbus Punk Initiative has a goal to take over the local clubs and fill them with punk shows featuring bands from where ever we can find them. Our first attack is on Ruby Tuesday, better known for its Hippie shows, on Friday 12.8.2000 we have brought together four of the best punk bands in Ohio each displaying a different type of punk. More information on the movement and the scene is coming soon. If you want involved let me know at brian@childrenofreagan.com.

“Get a License to Talk Law”
Some one told me once that it was great to live in the United States, because at least we have the Freedom of Speech. I call BULLSHIT on that. Freedom to speech? Let’s look at the scoreboard on that… how can we have freedom of speech and have the force that protects our freedoms protesting it. From major media events like the Fraternal Order of Pigs pressuring Ice-T to remove the Body Count song “Cop Killer” to the smaller events that barely make news its all the same. Now Medina, a suburb of Seattle Washington, actually went so far as to pass a law requiring a a permit and a criminal background check to distribute printed information, discuss religious or political beliefs, or seek charitable contributions in the area. Once again they are hiding behind the ever-popular we must protect our children and elderly and to do so we must give up our rights to defend this law. The law has already been challenged in court, but this could lead to a dangerous precedence – a system where only the non-criminals (remember most civil rights leaders where arrested and charged, therefore, criminals in the eyes of the law) can speak freely and then only with a permit. So the government decide they don’t want the queer community to speak, don’t want civil rights leaders to speak, don’t want an opposing political party to speak… easy no permit, no permit = criminal offense, criminal offense = no chance at a future permit. I end where I start – FREE SPEECH IN THE UNITED STATES… BULLSHIT!

COPWATCH
Anyone who has seen Children of Reagan probably have heard me start off P.I.G. with “as a friend of mine used to say: Not All Cops are Pigs, but All Cops have a little pig in them”. This group gets with that means. It doesn’t mean that all cops are bad, in fact most of them aren’t. What it does mean is that since all cops are human they have the potential to fuck up and go bad. This group is about citizens policing the police and that helps keep the little pig in all cops from turning them into a full fledge oinker. Check this page out and support CopWatch. Get involved. Even its one rally a year, just telling a friend, even the smallest thing can help.
